Bimbadgen Estate is excited to announce the release of the 2008 James Halliday Wine Companion, as this Hunter Valley winery has now been given the prestigious 5 start rating.

This rating included a review of wwo wines from the Bimbadgen Signature range with the following results:

2005 Bimbadgen Signature Individual Vineyard Semillon – Intense; great line and length; great clarity of varietal expression. Rating 95.

2005 Bimbadgen Signature Individual Vineyard Shiraz – Light but bright colour; light – to medium-bodied; elegant, earthy regional nuances to fine blackberry fruit; integrated oak and a long finish. Rating 94.

In five years, the determination, creativity and dedication from the Bimbadgen winemaking team has seen the Bimbadgen Estate range of wines go from strength the strength, as Bimbadgen Estate’s debut in the 2003 James Halliday Wine Companion saw the winery rated at only three stars.

This new acclaim adds to a very successful year for Bimbadgen. In February, Bimbadgen Estate was named ‘Australia’s Best Tourism Winery’ at the National Tourism Awards. The Restaurant and Catering Association then awarded the estate’s restaurant, Esca Bimbadgen, with two awards at the Hunter/Newcastle Awards for Excellence – Best Restaurant in a Winery and Best Tourism Restaurant.

General Manager of Bimbadgen Estate, Mr. John Quirk, said this latest review was a welcome reward for the winemaking team. “Bimbadgen Estate has featured in the spotlight numerous times this year, however this latest review belongs to our Winemakers, Simon Thistlewood and Jane Hoppe, for their hard work and creativity.” said Mr. Quirk.
