Our story
Bimbadgen’s story began in 1968, with the planting of the first Shiraz vines on what is now our renowned Palmers Lane vineyard. Soon after, we established our second key site: the McDonalds Road vineyard. In 1997, a major redevelopment of the winery took place, when the business—then known as Parker Wines—was purchased by the Lee family and renamed Bimbadgen. The name Bimbadgen came from the local Indigenous language, meaning “place of good view.”
Set high on a hill in Pokolbin, in the heart of the Hunter Valley wine region, the winery’s striking architecture, including our iconic bell tower, was designed to complement the natural landscape and capture the breathtaking views from every angle.
Today, Bimbadgen’s two premium Hunter Valley vineyard sites, Palmers Lane and McDonalds Road, form the foundation of our winemaking. Home to our three flagship varietals; Semillon, Chardonnay, and Shiraz, these vineyards produce exceptional fruit, including prized old vine parcels. Our winemaking team carefully harnesses the distinct terroir and unique characteristics of each site. This commitment to site expression results in wines of outstanding quality and unmistakable personality.
Over the past 56 years, this dedication has earned Bimbadgen numerous awards and accolades.

Hunter Valley region
The Hunter Valley is Australia’s oldest grape growing region. For well over a century, Hunter Valley wine growers have refined variety, technique and style to achieve universal recognition and acclaim for its long-lived Semillon, full flavoured Chardonnay and elegant Shiraz. These three classic varieties are the primary focus of Bimbadgen and our Pokolbin vineyards.
Sustainability
We recognise the profound connection between our vineyards, operations and the broader ecosystem, and strive to minimise our ecological footprint while producing wines and wine region experiences of outstanding quality and character. Our sustainability commitment is an ongoing journey of continuous improvement, where we actively seek innovative solutions and partnerships to further reduce our environmental impact.
Together, let’s raise a glass to a more sustainable future.
