- Background
Bimbadgen Palmers Lane Vinyard, Block 13/14 & Block 19/22
- Vintage Notes
The 2022 Hunter Valley vintage was shaped by a cool, wet La Niña season, with above average rainfall and a delayed, slow ripening period. Heavy early February rain required vigilance, but mild conditions and later drying winds helped develop vibrant fruit flavour, spice driven reds, and elegantly balanced wines.
- Vineyard Notes
Planted in 1968, our Palmers Lane vineyard faces west toward the grand Brokenback Range. Shaped by ancient weathering, the sandy alluvial soils of the blocks 13/14 & 19/22 produce Shiraz of lifted aromatics, refined tannins and elegant site-driven complexity.
- Winemaking
Cold soak for two days followed by alcoholic and malo-lactic fermentations for a period of ten days, where the grape skin ‘cap’ was plunged twice daily to extract elegant colour and flavour.
- Tasting Notes
Deep crimson in colour. The nose is immediately expressive, revealing layers of blackberry and blood plum intertwined with hints of violet, black olive, and warm baking spice. The palate is concentrated yet composed, with finely knit tannins carrying generous dark fruit through a long, savoury finish. French oak provides subtle spice. Distinctive, balanced and unmistakably Hunter Valley, this wine reflects the strength and character of the Palmers Lane vineyard.
